High Availability / Redundancy
Configure high availability / clustering as specified in Utimaco’s documentation. Configuring clustering, load balancing, and failover is described in the CryptoServer PKCS#11 R3 Developer Guide. When APM is used as a web service with APM REST API, HA and redundancy can be configured in the network infrastructure level, though this is out of scope of APM’s features and guidance.
Scalability Recommendations
Several APM workstations can access one HSM simultaneously. APM can be used as a web service with APM REST API. This configuration has been proven to handle a large number of requests simultaneously in an environment where 25,000-30,000 workstations are accessing it daily. Performance characteristics are dependent on the APM solution used and the external data sources and systems accessed from APM, so universal performance metrics cannot be determined.
